What This Guide Covers
A step-by-step approach to planning content that ranks on Google and gets cited in AI answers – not blog posts nobody finds. Optimising for AI answers is often called LLM optimisation (LLMO), and it builds on the same fundamentals as SEO.
Step 1: Start With the Questions Your Customers Ask
People search in full sentences now: “how much does a website cost in South Africa?” or “which canopy fits a 2024 Ranger double cab?” Start with the questions your sales and support team answer every week, then tag each one by buying stage.
Step 2: Build Around One Topic, Not One Post
A single blog post rarely makes you the go-to source. Pick one topic you want to be known for, write one complete main guide, and support it with shorter articles that each answer one specific question and link back to it.
Step 3: Structure Every Page for Quick Answers
Put the answer in the first sentence under each heading, then explain. Use a clear H1, H2 and H3 order, short paragraphs and an FAQ section – AI tools and people both favour pages that get to the point.
Step 4: Add Structured Data (Schema)
Schema is code that labels what’s on your page – your business, an article, a product. On WordPress, an SEO plugin handles most of it. It helps machines read your content correctly, but it won’t make weak content get cited.
Step 5: Use AI to Draft, Not to Decide
AI is good for brainstorming questions and first drafts, and poor at facts, pricing and fitment details. Have a person check every claim, and add what only your business has: a named author, real examples and real numbers.
